    Description

    Haiti #177-180, each unused with an inverted type I surcharge.
    Back of #177, 1 C green, shows in the 5th scan at top.  It is original gum with 2 hinge marks and 2 disturbed gum areas.
    Back of #178, 2 C vermillion, shows in the 5th scan at bottom.  It is original gum with 3 hinge marks & 2 hinge remnants.
    Back of #179, 3 C brown, shows in the last scan at top.  It is original gum with 2 hinge marks, 1 hinge remnant, and a toned spot in the gum.
    Back of #180, 3 C orange yellow shows in the last scan at bottom.  It is original gum with 1 hinge mark plus 1 hinge remnant.  The lower right corner as seen in the scan shows a missing gum spot.  The upper left corner as seen in the scan shows some toning on the gum.  The stamp has some minor bends which do not show in fluid.
    The condition of the back of the stamps is indicative of the tropical environment they came out of and the care (or lack of care) that collectors past showed their stamps.  However, this is still a chance for the Haiti specialist to get some very scarce varieties not often seen for sale.
