    Description

Beautifully illustrated in color, this early out-of-print book is the first published in a series on very rare glassware of the depression era.
VERY RARE GLASSWARE OF THE DEPRESSION YEARS [First Series]
by Gene Florence, Collector Books, KY, 1988.
Defining the term “rare as lack of availability in the marketplace,” the author says “Rarity can be determined by an unusual color in a common patterns, an unusual piece in a common pattern as well as unusual patterns and combinations.  This book features 143 pieces of very rare Depression Glassware, 83 of which have never before been seen in a full color book.  Many of the pieces are one of a kind and others have been found in only extremely limited quantities.  This book is the first that attempts to show the ‘rarest of the rare’ for collectors and to provide current market values.  Many of these pieces will never be seen by the average collector.  The exposure of these will hopefully lead to the discovery of more pieces of rare and valuable glassware.”
Makers include Akro Agate, Cambridge, Duncan & Miller, Fenton Art Glass, Fostoria, Fry Glass, Hazel-Atlas, A.H. Heisey & Co., Hocking Glass, Imperial Glass, Indiana Glass, Jeanette Glass, MacBeth-Evans Glass, McKee, Paden City, U.S. Glass, and others.  The final chapter gives values for date of publication [1988].  This book is an invaluable resource reference work.
